Miyoko Kirby (née Kuniyoshi) was born on January 20th,1939 in Okinawa, Japan. She passed away peacefully in her Oak Harbor home on December 17th, 2022. Preceding her in death are her parents and brother. Miyoko’s husband passed away nine days after, thus joining Miyoko again. Miyoko is survived by her daughter Maria, grandchildren Kyra, Miyoko, Addison, and Joseph, and her great grandchildren.
Miyoko’s youth was spent in Okinawa, where she met her husband, Robert. Their lives as a U.S. Navy family meant traveling a great deal, but they settled in Oak Harbor in the 1970s. They had one daughter, Maria. Miyoko worked various jobs over the years, but her retired life was spent cooking, gardening, and caring for her husband and dog. Spending time with and caring for her family was a huge part of her life. She will be dearly missed.
A celebration of life will be held at DH restaurant in Oak Harbor on Saturday, February 18th from 1-3 pm. We will also celebrate the life of her husband, Robert. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to The Gideons International, PO Box 909, Poulsbo, WA 98370.
