Monte Johnson of Coupeville passed away Oct. 15, 2016. He was born in 1928 to Mont and Violet Johnson of Carney, Okla.
Monte moved at the age of 6 to Santa Clara, Calif.
He joined the Navy at the age of 20 and served four years in the Seabees.
Monte and Lorraine settled in Santa Clara County, Calif., where they raised their daughters until moving to Coupeville in 1996.
While in the Navy, Monte was a part of a Seabees unit where he learned skills he was able to take with him to his civilian job of plumbing and pipe-fitting. Monte was also a deacon in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, and in his spare time enjoyed being part of the Civil Air Patrol with his grandsons, as well as volunteering with the Red Cross.
He is preceded in death by his parents Mont and Violet Johnson; brother Russell Johnson; sister Inez McCaslin; daughter Jackie Lynn; and son Monte Brian. Monte leaves behind his loving wife Lorraine; daughters Renee Duysings (Rudie) and Sheri Carruthers; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
