Natalie Elizabeth Dodge-Myers

Natalie Elizabeth Myers passed away March 21, 2010. Born in Sunbury, Penn., on Sept. 22, 1960, she was christened Natalie Elizabeth Dodge by her parents George Samuel Dodge and Patricia Ann Callender-Dodge. Her father, George, was born in 1931 in Lewisburg, Penn., and passed away in January 2009. Natalie is survived by her mother, Doctor Patricia Ann Callender-Horton, born in 1937, in Bloomsburg, Penn., and stepfather Kevin S. Horton, born in Tucson, Ariz.

Natalie thoroughly enjoyed an idyllic childhood; she grew up riding horses through the heart of the Dutch countryside in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She is survived by her sister, Tracy Dodge and brother George (Sandy) S. Dodge II. Natalie attended Deptford High School in New Jersey, graduating with the class of 1978. She always dreamed of becoming a wife and mother.

After high school, Natalie attended Travel Agent School in Pittsburgh, and after receiving her certification she moved to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where she began a successful career. She moved to San Diego in 1990 to open up her own agency in the heart of San Diego’s Old Town and was a member of the chamber of commerce. She was highly respected throughout the travel industry and many of her co-workers and clients were touched during Natalie’s career.

After meeting and marrying her active duty Navy husband Robert D. Myers of Mesa, Ariz., in 1996, they received military orders to Naval Ocean Processing Facility Whidbey Island in 2001. They chose Coupeville to live because of its small-town atmosphere, local schools, overall beauty and were heavily influenced by their lifelong friends John and Dana Luvera. Natalie quickly became an active member in the local community, PTA and youth groups while fulfilling her dreams of being a stay at home mom deeply involved in raising their children.

Natalie is survived by her husband Rob. Together they have four children: stepson Matthew (21), daughters Taylor (17) and Julia (12), and son James (10). She was a truly devoted and loving wife and mother to her family and a caring and loyal companion to her many friends. Her absence will be deeply felt by those left behind.

Natalie had a magical and charismatic presence that affected everyone around her. Her grin was infectious, her personality was charming, and her heart was steadfast; she was a true measure of love and loyalty. Natalie will be remembered by her family for her quick humor, youthful nature, creativity, wisdom and kindness. Although her life was too short, she lived and fulfilled her dreams and was truly loved by everyone she came in contact with; she was everything that life offered!

Natalie’s life will be celebrated Saturday, April 3, at Coupeville United Methodist Church, 608 N. Main St., at 3 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that all donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and to the Coupeville United Methodist Church.
