Nikolas Wayne-Van Ngo, 21, of Oak Harbor, died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011 on Whidbey Island. Nik was born Nov. 13, 1989, in Puyallup, the son of Eric and Krista (Johnson) Ngo. He was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend.
Nik joined the Navy in 2009 after graduating from Stanwood High School. He was stationed at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, VP69, in Oak Harbor. Nik was gentle and humble and had a love for life and the people he helped along the way. He proudly served his country and loved his job and shipmates, especially Jeff and Freddie.
The most memorable thing about Nik is his beautiful smile. It was the first thing you noticed when he entered the room and the last thing you remembered when he left. They say people who smile are closest to God. Nik was confirmed in the Catholic Church this past Easter. He most certainly is in Heaven, with his big smile, shining down upon us all.
Nik is survived by his parents, Eric and Krista Ngo; best friend and sister, Jessika; grandparents, aunts and uncles; cousins and countless friends. A Rosary was held Sept. 15 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Anacortes followed by a funeral mass. Interment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery with full military honors. Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., Anacortes, and the San Juan Islands. To share memories of Nik, please sign the online guest register at
