Patricia A. Rankin, born Oct. 16, 1929, passed away Nov. 27 after enduring a lengthy illness, of panceatic cancer. She was a resident of Langley prior to her illness, which required her to move to the mainland.
All those whose lives she touched are grateful for having known this elegant, sharing and principled woman who lived a life of kindness and moral strength. She was a woman who inspired her family and friends with her optomism and endurance; her wit and good humor endured under the most difficult of trials.
Many will remember Patricia for her trademark high heels and broad-brimmed hats — always the fashion plate. When she sauntered into a room people noticed, no matter the gathering, business meeting or church committee meeting. Her history of attentiveness to both people and issues and her intelligent consideration of both problems encountered and goals to be met earned her the respect of colleagues, friends and aquaintances.
Most importantly, Patricia lived out her deep commitment to her faith. She accepted her illness with the firm conviction that the will of God would guide her life and her death. She died content in the knowledge that her life was meaningful and purposeful.
Patricia is survived by her son, John Rankin Jr. She is also survived by her siblings: Juanita A. Berstler, Marjorie Elliot, Ellie Day, and LeJuene Patrick. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Jesse Fortune, father, W.H. Patrick, mother, Ruby Ross and brother, Rodney Patrick.
Funeral services and internment will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at Holy Rood Cemetery. Arrangements by Beck’s Funeral Home, Edmonds.
