Randall “Randy” Pleasance was born in Richland, WA on June 11, 1954, to Carroll and Ila Deane Pleasance and passed away unexpectedly on January 22, 2025.
After moving around the country with his parents for his dad’s career as a nuclear engineer, he graduated from Chief Sealth High School, in Seattle in 1972. He attended University of Washington for one year before transferring to University of California – Berkeley, earning a degree in electrical engineering. After spending some time working for Motorola and Oracle, Randy started his own business, Coast Business Communications, Inc.
Randy retired at the age of 51 and moved his then wife, Katie (who passed away in 2016) to Oak Harbor, where he raised Icelandic sheep and sheepdogs. At the time, Randy had one of the largest sheep farms on Whidbey Island. On June 1, 2019, Randy married Wendy Nienhuis and joined a very large extended family. In recent years, on Friday’s, you could find Randy at Noé José’s restaurant for breakfast with the Sheriff’s Citizen on Patrol crew. Randy was active with the Gideons and as a member of First Reformed Church, running the video and sound on Sunday mornings. Randy enjoyed trips to Hawaii, visiting family in Richland, and his collection of classic cars.
Randy will be greatly missed by his family and friends. We know this is not a goodbye, but rather a see you later. Until then, we love you and cherish the memories we made.
Memorial services will be held at First ReformedChurch, 250 SW 3rd Ave, Oak Harbor, on February 8th at 4:00pm.
