Reynold William Sticher, age 91, passed away on March 8, 2016, peacefully in his sleep.
Bill was born to the late William and Doris Sticher in 1924, and was raised in Cressona, Pa.
After graduating high school, Bill joined the U.S. Navy. He served his county during WWII in the Pacific onboard the battleship USS Alabama, and following that war he served in Korea as a member of the U.S. Air Force. He later completed a career with the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller.
On July 17, 1972, Bill married the love of his life, by whom he is survived, Marda Ann (Monroe) Sticher of Everett.
Many of Bill’s greatest joys in life came as a result of his passion for helping others. Throughout his adult life, Bill was actively involved in a wide range of volunteer services from building houses for church missionaries, to helping with senior services as a meals on wheels driver and much more.
Bill’s family thanks Whidbey General Hospital Hospice and HomePlace for the wonderful care provided during the last few months of Bill’s life.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m., April 29, at the Oak Harbor Senior Center.
