Richard Brayton, 90, of Coupeville, died Nov. 22, 2010 at Harbor Care in Oak Harbor. He was born Feb. 27, 1920, in Highland Park, Calif., to James Henry and Frances Knizek Brayton.
Richard lived most of his life in California, but resided in Coupeville since retiring from Chevron. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and was a long-time member of the Coupeville Lions Club.
Besides his son, Richard Gary Brayton, he is survived by is granddaughter Kelly Klemmer of New Bern, N.C., and grandson Shawn G. Brayton of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., along with four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona F. Brayton, along with his father, mother, brother Harry Brayton and grandson Richard P. Brayton.
