Richard Carl Liljegren

AOCM Retired Richard Carl Liljegren, 70, of Nampa, Idaho, passed away at his home Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, from natural causes, with his loving family at his side.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise. Richard was born Oct. 13, 1945, in Superior, Wisc., the son of Carl and Violet Liljegren.

He was reared and educated in Superior and graduated from Superior High School. He also attended the University of Wisconsin in Superior. In 1966 he enlisted in the US Navy and spent 30 years in service to his country and retired in 1996 as a master chief.

He is survived by his wife Mary; his son and daughter-in-law John and Christy Liljegren; daughter and son-in-law Janet and Rob Tudor; grandchildren, Jessica Downs, Jordan Smith, Danny Tudor, Chase Liljegren, Caden Tudor and their families; great-grandchildren, Chelan, Cash and Colton; sisters Nancy Bubalo and Carolyn Reynolds; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to any veterans charity of choice.
