Richard “Dick” Husted of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Coupeville, died suddenly June 13, 2004. He was born in Valley Junction, Iowa, Feb. 17, 1921. He joined the Navy in 1940 and served on the USS Oklahoma on Dec. 7, 1941. Richard served 30 years in the Navy and retired as a commander in October of 1970.
He is survived by his wife Frances Price Husted; two sons, Gregary of Las Vegas and James of Seattle; and three step-children, Jay Price of Sagle, Idaho, Larry Price of Seattle, and Patricia Ays of Wharton, N.J. His first wife, Mary Ellen, preceded him in death in 1985. His ashes will be interred in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, commonly called “Punchbowl,” on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, at a later date.
