Robert(Bob) VanDyk, age 94, was a lifelong resident of Oak Harbor. He was born to Albert and Dora Weidenbach VanDyk in Oak Harbor, January 2, 1930. He died August 11, 2024, at his home with his family by his side.
Bob was employed with Puget Sound Power and Light Co. for 40 years and retired as a line foreman. Bob also served as a volunteer fireman for Cornet Fire Department for 25 years.
Bob met his wife, Betty Hilberdink, while working at Puget Power. They were married for 63 years.
He is survived by his wife Betty, his children Connie (Rick) Fakkema and Robert (Dawn) VanDyk. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren; Kayla (Rusty) Etheridge, Alyssa (Patrick) Earl, Cody (Elizabeth) Fakkema, Rebekah VanDyk and Heidi VanDyk; 6 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at First Reformed Church at 1pm with a reception following.
