Robert S. Allgire died peacefully Sept. 11, 2013 in Port Townsend, Wash. Born in Brawley, Calif. Aug. 4, 1925 to Harry Alphus and Lydia Beam Allgire. He was raised in Adair, Okla.
After serving in the Army Air Corps, he received his BA and BE at Western State College in 1951.
This began a career in education that lasted more than 30 years, until his retirement in 1984 in Coupeville, Wash.
Bob continued his commitment to children by spending summers working with Boy Scouts of America.
He married Theresa Joan Preston in Quilcene, Wash. on Sept. 2, 1955. They raised two children: Michael James and Brenda Eileen; and one grandson, Brent Allen.
On retirement, Bob became both state and locally active in the Washington State School Retirees’ Association. He was also active in the Presbyterian Church, and a board member for the Quilcene Museum.
He leaves behind his loving wife, children, grandson and sister, Marilyn.
