Ronald Eugene Watts

Ronald Eugene Watts, 48, passed away Aug. 17, 2008, in Coupeville while he and his wife were attending a Muzzleloader Rendezvous. He was born July 16, 1960, in Burlington to Kyle and Mary Lee (Chambers) Watts.

Ron grew up in the Glendale and Avondale areas of Arizona and moved to Skagit County in 1972. He was married to Cella Krieger on Nov. 6, 1981, in Mount Vernon, and they resided in Sedro-Woolley, Hamilton, and Wickersham until moving to Birdsview six years ago. For many years, Ron worked as an auto mechanic until he was disabled.

Ron enjoyed fishing, hunting with his son Matt, and playing darts with the Sedro-Woolley Dart League. He drove mini sprints at Deming and Hannegan Speedways and in 1993, he was track champion and was admitted to the Sprint Car Hall of Fame. Ron coached his son’s Little League team, he enjoyed family camp outs and playing his guitar. He was active with the Skagit Muzzleloaders; enjoying attending muzzle loader black powder rendezvous where he was known as the “Rattler” and for being a member of the Brotherhood.

Ron is survived by his wife Cella and son Matt Watts of the family home in Birdsview; daughter, Katy Watts and her fiancée, Nick Adkins of Sedro-Woolley; mother, Mary Lee Watts of Sedro-Woolley; two sisters, Debbie Robbins and her husband Grant of Concrete and Sherri Cole and her companion Cody of Dennison, Texas; and one brother, Danny Watts and his wife Alison of Mount Vernon. Also, numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his favorite rendezvous dog, Tyson, and his daughter, Katy and Nick’s dog, Rainey. Ron was preceded in death by his father, Kyle Watts, his grandparents, and an uncle.

Graveside Inurnment Services will be Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 1 p.m. at the Lyman Cemetery with Pastor Rick Miles of the Day Creek Chapel, officiating. A reception will follow the services at the Lyman City Park.

Visitation will be available at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
