Russell “Russ” E. Steele, age 59 of Oak Harbor, Washington passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 24, 2022.

Russ was born on November 17, 1962 in Shelby, Ohio to Claude E. and Phyllis (Morris) Steele who preceded him in death. Russ was a 1981 graduate of Shelby High School/Pioneer Career & Technology Center. He served his country as a Heavy Equipment Operator with the SeaBees in the US Navy. Following his military service, Russ remained on the West coast, settling in Oak Harbor, Washington, where he met his wife of 10 years, Bernadette.

Russ was a simple man, with a great sense of humor who was always willing to lend a hand. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and working on cars. Russ was a devoted and loving father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. Russ is survived by his wife, Bernadette, his children: son James Steele, daughter RoseAnna Shannon, and husband Ben Shannon, son Russell Steele Jr. and fiance Ann, daughter Aiko Brown. His Seven Grandchildren: Taylor, Kylee, Trayven, Pierce, Russell (R3), Patrick, and Everly. Brother, Daniel (Joy) Steele. Sisters: Cathie Schnieder and Carol Knapp (fiance Dan Reese). Aunts Shirley Morris and Connie (Larry) Kuhn, loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A private family Celebration of Life will be held for Russ at a later date.
