Ruth (Jan) Setzer Jones of 5400 Vantage Point Rd., Columbia, Md., passed away Nov. 6, 2009.
Born Doris Ruth Henley on Nov. 8, 1918, in Johnson City, Tenn., she graduated from Lenoir High School, Lenoir, N.C., where she was a member of the National Honor Society and played clarinet in the state champion Lenoir High School Marching Band. She attended business college for one year. She was employed by the Department of Defense, Navy/Air Force, for 32 years, retiring as a Contract Negotiator/Administrator.
Married to the late Raymond Setzer for 20 years, she was married to Harry A. Jones for 25 years, formerly of Dayton, Ohio, who survives her. She had three daughters, Jansie Setzer Rogers of Columbia, Md., Judith Ray Setzer and Sharon Ann Setzer, of Edgewater, Md., who survive her. Her grandchildren are Rob Rogers of Ellicott City, Md., Sharon Rogers Dodge of Oak Harbor, and Katharine Ames of Edgewater, Md. She has three great- grandchildren, Tyler Dodge, Caitlyn Dodge and Sarah Dodge of Oak Harbor.
Also surviving are four stepchildren: Allen Jones of Dayton, Ohio, Judy Boston of Naples, Fla., Nancy Evans Jones of Kingston, Wash., and Margaret Jones Panther of Canton, N.C.; ten step-grandchildren; and 18 step-great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at Kittamaqundi Community at Olivers Carriage House, 5410 Leaf Treader Way, Columbia, Md., on Sunday, Dec. 6, at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Kittamaqundi Community Memorial Garden in memory of Ruth (Jan) Setzer Jones.
