Loving mother Ruth Tarkon passed away at home peacefully in her sleep on Jan. 3, 2014. She will be missed by her sons Tony and Christopher, numerous family members and those whose life she touched.

She was born Ruth Elizabeth Hintz June 8, 1926, in Honey Grove, Texas, to John and Hilda Hintz. Ruth married Ted Tarkon in 1962 in Oak Harbor, where they owned their own business. After retirement Ruth volunteered at the Navy hospital. Ruth was an avid gardener, loved collecting dolls and made beautiful quilts.

Ruth is survived by her sons Tony Tarkon of Oak Harbor and Christopher Tarkon (Wendy) of Bellingham; brothers Ernest Hintz (Lillian), Mildred Yarbrough (Charles) and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
