Ruth Waite, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 6, 2010, after an extended illness. She was born Dec. 19, 1925, in Scottville, Mich., to Earl William Price and Lena Mae Stiver Price.
Ruth married Isaac “Ike” S.Waite on June 28, 1946. When Ike joined the US Navy they began a 20-year career that took them to several duty stations, mainly in the San Diego area. In 1971 they moved to Whidbey Island Naval Air Station where they stayed after Ike’s retirement in 1974.
Ruth and Ike were charter members of Family Bible Church in Oak Harbor where they both faithfully served. Her faith was an integral part of her life and she had been looking forward to this move to her eternal home where she has been reunited with Ike, who died in 2005, her parents, her brother William and sisters Mary and Lenore, as well as her beloved grandson, George (Guy) Rainbolt.
She is survived by daughter Bethany (James) Campbell of Oak Harbor, son William (Dorothy) Waite of Oak Harbor, son Gregory (Janet) Waite of Cheney, Wash., daughter Wendy (Thomas) Vollenweider of San Diego, and son Phillip (Debra) Waite of Pullman, Wash., brother Paul (Pearl) Price of Pensacola, Fla., sisters Lois (Clyde) Scott of Kalamazoo, Mich., Eunice (Paul) Beeman of Portage, Mich.; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for Ruth at Family Bible Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, followed by a private family inurnment at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
