Sally Bernhardt passed away on March 12, 2011, at the age of 87. Sally was born to Joseph and Bertha (Vareberg) Lang on Feb. 4, 1924, in Max, N.D. She graduated from high school in Oak Harbor in 1942 and married Edward C. Wicka on June 1, 1943.
Her beloved Edward passed away on June 24, 1966. She later married Tom Bernhardt in 1970. They traveled to several countries and enjoyed their many destinations. Sally enjoyed sewing, baking, cooking, the Mariners and Seahawks.
Sally was preceded in death by her husbands, Edward and Tom; her parents; sisters Helen Eerkes and Elizabeth Lange; and brother, Leonard Lange. Treasuring her memory are daughter Renee Stryken, Canada; brothers, Bernard (Mary) Lange, Oak Harbor and Richard Lange, Seattle; numerous nieces and nephews; grandson William Stryken, Wasilla, Alaska; and three great-grandchildren, William, Asa and Phoenix Stryken.
Viewing was held March 16 at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass was held March 17 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment followed at Maple Leaf Cemetery in Oak Harbor on March 18.
