Scott A. Richey, 29, of Oak Harbor, died at his home on March 29, 2003, following an extended illness.
Scott was born in Mountain View, Calif., on April 7, 1973. He moved to Oak Harbor as an infant with his family, and attended Oak Harbor schools. Scott was very loyal to his friends and lived life to its fullest.
Scott is survived by his mother and step-father, Dona and Jim Engen of Oak Harbor; his two children, Meghan Richey of Oak Harbor and Miranda Richey of Virginia Beach, VA; six siblings, Dianna Hopper and husband Thomas, Julie Richey and partner Craig Taylor, Susan Harvey and husband Jeremy, Gilbert “Lee” Engen and William “Billy” Engen, all of Oak Harbor, and Candy Ottinger and husband Phil of Hartline; one uncle, Richard Harris of Lockford, CA; nephews and nieces, Joshua, Jasmine, Andrea, James, Dianna Lynn, Jennifer, Allison, Thomas, Zachary, John Allen, Mathew, Kaitlin, Destiny, Shawn and Shelby; a great-niece and great-nephew, Austin and Kerra; also, best friends, Brian and Jeremiah and the Kirk family. He was preceded in death by an aunt, Diane Kirk, uncles Walter and Roy Wesley and grandparents, Mary Harris, Julius Harris and Dorothy Kress.
A memorial celebration of Scott’s life will be Saturday, April 12, at 1 p.m. at Burley Funeral Chapel, Mr. Jeremiah Sargent, officiating. A Committal Service will follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Burley Funeral Chapel.
