Shawn Thames Harris: November 5, 1967 – October 6, 2024

Shawn Harris, the beloved husband, son, and father lost his courageous fight against cancer on October 6th, 2024.

Shawn was born in Buchanan Michigan November 5th, 1967. His mother Carlene Wilkes raised Shawn in Sparta Illinois.

Shawn was a Family man who looked out for everyone. He was so selfless, affecting people he encountered throughout his life in a positive way. One thing Shawn Harris knew the meaning of, was hard work. Working for everything that he had.

Shawn met his wife Shelly, in 2001 and then decided to move to Oak Harbor to try something new. They fell in love and got married in 2008, they loved to travel, fish, camp, ride bikes and get in the holiday spirit every year. They were together for over 20 years while helping raise four of their children and two of their grandkids during that time. Shawn had a competitive yet nurturing and loving spirit. He could be playing darts or shooting hoops with his son Dyllan one minute or dressing up as Michael Meyers and scaring the boys the next. He was a leader and a perfect role model.

Shawn had plenty of jobs throughout his life because he was always willing to try something new. When he came to Whidbey Island he started working as a driver for island transit. With years of consistency, he moved up to operations manager where he would be able to showcase his creativity and impact the company and community with his thoughts and ideas. His work ethic would ensure all of his people were straight and taken care of. He was the glue of the household. Shawn had a glow about him that was noticed every time he walked into a room.

He is survived by: Shelly Harris, wife, Dyllan Harris, son, his mother, Carlene Wilkes, brothers, Ace and Robbie Harris and sister Becky Harris and many aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

There will be a funeral on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 11:00am, followed by a reception. There will be a private family burial at Sunnyside Cemetery following the reception.
