Long-time Oak Harbor resident, Stephen Robert Lolley, 63, passed away April 30, 2007. He was born Oct. 30, 1943 in Valentine, Neb., to John and Juanita Lolley. He spent his early years in Mission, S.D., and later the family located to Igloo and Edgemont, S.D. He graduated from Edgemont High School in 1961. He enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in October 1964.
His Civil Service career commenced September 1965 and concluded with his retirement September 1999. He received numerous outstanding performance awards and commendations including the Meritorious Civilian Service Award in 1996. He spent most of his career as a public works department employee and his final years of employment with the Naval Reserves as facilities manager.
On July 30, 1965 he married Linda Reichardt of Edgemont, S.D. They resided in Igloo, S.D. until November 1967; Hawthorne, Nev., from November 1967 through November 1980; then moved to Oak Harbor where the family still resides. His favorite pastimes included reading, fishing, golfing and going to the movies. He was a former member of the American Legion, American Federation of Government Employees serving as president and treasurer, and bowling leagues, in Hawthorne, Nev. He attended Western Nevada Community College, majoring in Business Administration.
Stephen is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Lolley; his son, Sean Lolley, Oak Harbor; and his daughter, Shannon Drohman and her partner, Peter Hallam of Seattle; his four brothers, Joseph Lolley, Clarence Lolley, Richard Lolley, Neil Lolley; his three sisters, Grace Sylvester, Shirley Doyle, and Carmen Lolley; many nieces and nephews and the family’s treasured poodle, Dolly Lolley. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bryan.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 19, at 2 p.m. at Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor. A reception will follow for family and friends. Cremation was held with private family inurnment.
