Steven Gerald Wilson, 63, of Stanwood, passed away July 17, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Oct. 10, 1947, at Bultman Maternity Home in Oak Harbor, to Ralph and Eunice Wilson. He was a 1966 graduate of Coupeville High School and a Navy veteran. He spent the last 11 years as maintenance supervisor for the Snohomish County YMCA. Prior to that, he worked as maintenance supervisor at Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington. He served with the Snohomish County Fire Department, Freeborn Station, for 16 years, with some of that time as battalion chief.
Steve loved being outdoors, enjoying boating, waterskiing, scuba diving, hunting, fishing, camping and many other activities. But, his biggest love was spending time with his family.
He is survived by Mid, his wife of 32 years; his children, Jill Callan (Heath), and Andy; and his grandchildren, Parker, Haley and Tevin. He is also survived by a brother, Jerry Wilson (Nancy) of Friday Harbor, and a sister, June Mazdra (Marty) of Coupeville. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Judy Adams and Janice Ford.
A celebration of life was held on July 30 at the family home in Stanwood and private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
