Terrance â??Terryâ? McRae Kidder

Terrance “Terry” McRae Kidder died June 16, 2008. He was born June 22, 1929, in Yakima. He grew up in Falls City, where he joined the U.S. Navy in 1946. He served in the Navy for 23 years and traveled all around the world. Through all his journeys, Cape Town, South Africa, was his favorite. He said the city was beautiful and left a lasting impression in his heart.

He married the love of his life Dorothy Youschalk in 1952. Dorothy preceded Terry in death in May 2006. They had two daughters, Jerene and Heather. Terry and Dorothy settled in Oak Harbor in 1967 where he retired from the Navy in 1969.

In retirement Terry pursued his longtime love for sports, and opened the first of many ticket and sports shops. He was well known throughout the area as “Terry the Ticket Man.” Terry the Ticket Man was passionate about all Seattle professional sports teams and Washington State college sports teams as well. He would travel to Southern California to sell tickets and memorabilia for any Washington team that made it to the Rose Bowl. Although Terry loved all sports, watching basketball gave him the most enjoyment.

Terry is survived by his two daughters, Jerene Robinson of Lusby, Md., and Dee-Jay Heather Moncure of Long Beach, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Vonda and Boe Kenner of Lusby, Md., Athena Moncure and Sarah Moncure of Long Beach, Marcus Robinson of Phoenix, Nicolette Pina, Joseph Moncure and Catherine Moncure, also of Long Beach;, and 11 great-granchildren, Dallas, Celeste, DeVante, Brandon, Elena, Stokes, Ayla, Marcus Jr., Lillian, Makenza and Maxwell.

His family as well as the entire Pacific Northwest will miss Terry the Ticket Man. A service in Terry’s honor will be held at noon on Sunday, June 22, to honor Terry’s birthday as well as his memory. The service will be held at The Sports Keg Restaurant Lounge & Casino, 1660 S. Burlington Blvd., Burlington, Wash., 360-757-7828.

In lieu of floral tributes, the family asks that memorials be used to help the family offset mortuary expenses. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Affordable Burial & Cremation Services, LLC of Mount Vernon, 360-424-1002. Memorials and cards of condolence may be sent to the family in care of the funeral home.
