Henry Vander Pol, 95, passed away Feb. 29, 2012. Born in Oak Harbor, he had resided in the Auburn area since 1989. Henry served the Lord his whole life. Henry owned and operated Oak Harbor Freight Lines, Inc., for many years, starting out as a truck driver in the family business in 1936. He is a past president of the Washington Trucking Association.
Henry was one of the founding members of Watson Groen Christian School and Seattle Christian School, served as an elder of Christian Reformed Church and was a faithful Gideon member. He was an active Rotarian for over 40 years. He loved to fly airplanes, flying till he was 90 years of age. He was preceded in death by his grandson Steven. Survivors include his loving wife Anna of 72 years; daughter Sandra Dykstra (William) of Coupeville; sons Ed (Mary) of Auburn, David (Linda) of Auburn and Jay (Marlys) of Redmond; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grand children. Visitation was March 4 at Yahn & Son Funeral Home, Auburn. Memorial service followed on March 5 at First Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Private interment was at Mountain View Cemetery, Auburn.
