Walter August Herlevi, born on July 9, 1932 in Scofield, Utah. He peacefully departed this world at home with family by his side on December 29, 2023.
A devoted husband, father, and public servant, Walter’s legacy is one marked by a profound dedication to his country, community, and family.
Walter proudly served in the United States Military for 26 years, defending the principles he held dear. His commitment to service extended beyond the military, as he dedicated an additional 20 years of Civil Service to the US Government. His tireless efforts contributed significantly to the well-being of his fellow citizens.
A pillar of faith and community, Walter was a cherished member of Oak Harbor Lutheran Church for nearly four decades. His faith was not just a part of his life but a guiding force that influenced his interactions with others.
Walter is survived by his one remaining brother Waino, his loving wife Esther, his son Michael, and two daughters, Patricia and Elizabeth. He is also survived by his daughterin-law Jennifer and grandson Zachary, who brought immeasurable joy to his life.
Walter had a lifelong passion for photography and the outdoors, capturing the beauty of nature through his lens.
His artistic endeavors reflected his appreciation for the world around him. His legacy will live on in the visual stories he created, offering a glimpse into his unique perspective on life.
Above all, Walter will be remembered for his selfless nature, always putting the needs of others before his own. His acts of kindness, generosity, and service to his community left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service was held for him at Wallin Stucky Funeral Home on January 11th, 2024.
