William Paul Frank, of Oak Harbor, left his earthly station to put on immortality May 28, 2014. He and his twin brother, Charles, were born on July 14, 1935, to Henry and Bertha Frank in Kokomo, Ind.
During his childhood, the family lived in Indiana, New Jersey, Ohio, Georgia, Alabama and Washington.
After graduating from high school in Kokomo, Ind., he attended Purdue University briefly before joining the United States Navy in 1955.
While in the Navy, he served on the USS Antietam, USS Kitty Hawk and USS America as an aircraft mechanic. He was stationed in Quonset Point, R.I.; Kingsville, Texas; Oceana, Va.; and Whidbey Island. He was proud of his service in the United States Navy.
After 20 years of service, he retired from the Navy and made a career change in auto body repair and painting.
He was a Boy Scout, and had become a Life Scout. He enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking, with the required eating part, and afternoon naps. He was an avid motorcyclist. He made friends wherever he went.
But, most of all, he loved his family dearly and his family loved him dearly! He was a joy to be around, always smiling, positive and he brought people and family together. Everyone was a “sweetie” and a friend to him. And everyone we met would say, “He is so darn cute!” and he was!
He was preceded in death by parents Henry and Bertha Frank; twin brother Charles; sister Barbara; and his son, Henry.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Frank; daughter Debra Metz and Steve Metz of Langley, Wash.; son Charles Frank and Marie Frank of Loganville, Ga.; daughter Angela Fritch and Nils Johnson of Oak Harbor; son William Frank and Tara Hampton of Woodstock, Ga.; son Michael Frank and Collen Frank of Sellersville, Pa.; grandchildren Stephanie Metz, Ben Metz, Noelle Metz, Eva Bushnell, Mandy Peak, Samantha Vest, Bregan Frank, Will Frank, Hannah Frank, Cail Frank and Eric Frank; and six great-grandchildren.
