Zenovia Candis Barron, 24, a native Whidbey Islander, died suddenly Nov. 3, 2003, in Oak Harbor.
Zenovia was born at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station’s base hospital Sept. 11, 1979, to Sylvester L. Barron, Jr. and Gail Rainey Barron. She graduated from Coupeville High School in 1998 and attended College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls on a basketball scholarship. Zenovia was well known for her outstanding athletic ability in basketball and track and field. She was also very talented in music, both vocally and in composition. Zenovia played drums, guitar and keyboards.
Zenovia is survived by her parents, Sylvester L. Barron, Jr. and Gail R. Barron, of Oak Harbor; three brothers and one sister, Sylvester L. Barron III of Oak Harbor, Sean Michael Barron and wife Chrissy, and Samuel Ian Anthony Barron, all of San Diego, and Devyn Nicole Barron of Mount Vernon; nephews and nieces Sylvester L. Barron IV, Diondre A. Barron, Moriah Laine Stewart, and Carmen J. Barron; grandfather Charlie Sir Walter Rainey; aunts Berethea Feagins, Vivian Nelson, and Arnette M. Rainey, all of Atlanta, Ga.; uncle Gregory Arthur A. Barron and wife Bonita of Washington, D.C., and a host of cousins and numerous relatives.
Services will be Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m., at Oak Harbor Southern Baptist Church, 50 SW Sixth Ave.. with fellowship to follow interment at Living Faith Christian Center, 551 NE Midway Blvd.
A memorial fund in Novi’s name has been established at Whidbey Island Bank. Those who have been so kind in wanting to be of help in some way may make contributions at any branch.
