You asked, and you already know. There are many reasons that Pioneer Way is not teeming with locals and tourists shopping or dining out.

That project became enshrouded in negativity when the “powers that be” embarrassed our community and consciously chose to break federal and state laws by ignoring Native American rights.

Secondly, the same “powers that be” pushed through the one-way parking decision in spite of strong local community experience and objection.

I park a dozen or so times a month on Pioneer Way, usually taking advantage of the disability parking when available. It is true that parking is minimal and visibility a stretch, but I find that pulling out is difficult for another reason.

Pioneer Way is frequented by aggressive motorists in a real hurry to get from Point A to Point B.

The oncoming traffic does not slow or stop to allow traffic to back up and leave; parking is not their objective.

These negatives are not easy to get beyond. I feel embarrassed, along with my community, that our elected officials have acted and continue to act like tyrants.

It’ll take a lot more than smudging the area with sage to get rid of the stink that has been created.

According to the oak, it might take 330 years to get over the offense.
