Question of the Week: What do you think about a proposal to raise the legal smoking age from 18 to 21?

 

“I think it’s reasonable. From my experience, more kids these days are getting addicted because of the second hand smoke they experience from a young age.”

“I don’t know. I have mixed feelings about it because people can join the military when they’re 18; they’re not allowed to smoke or drink but they can carry a gun and defend our country … I think the military should be able to do that, but I think for everyday people, I’d like it to be harder for them to get ahold of (tabacco products) because it’s bad for them. But I understand why people turn to smoking in certain situations, to relieve stress. I don’t think it’s going to stop smoking any more than it stops drinking for underage people.”
