Coupeville scored a season-high two goals at Sultan, unfortunately the Turks drilled six Thursday, Sept. 20.

Amanda d’Almeida tallied both Wolf goals and nearly had four. One apparent goal was disallowed and another shot that would have slipped by the Sultan keeper bounced off a teammate.

Both Coupeville goals came in the second half when d’Almeida scored on a clean header and a penalty kick.

Coupeville coach Dan d’Almeida said the Wolves’ defense was the victim of several unlucky “bouncing balls pin-balling around the goal and making their way into the net.”

He was pleased with his young defense’s efforts in slowing dangerous Sierra Strauss, who recorded a hat trick against Coupeville last season.

He added, “Freshman Jen Sparks had a solid game and allowed us to push numbers forward in the second half.”

One of the Wolves’ top offensive weapons, Madison Tisa-McPhee missed the match with a leg injury.

Next up for Coupeville (0-4, 0-6) is Archbishop Murphy (4-0, 6-0) at home at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24.
