Three individual champions led the Oak Harbor High School wrestling team to a second-place finish in the Graham Morin Invitational Tournament at Squalicum High School in Bellingham Saturday, Dec. 19.
Blake Servatius (106 pounds), Dymond Piper (152) and Sam Zook (285) collected titles for the Wildcats.
Zook was also honored as the tournament’s Most Valuable Wrestler.
Oak Harbor earned top five finishes in nine of the 12 weight classes it entered wrestlers and racked up 190 team points, good for second behind Ferndale with 243.5.
Eriq Boler (160) and Nick Dugan (170) grabbed second places; Garrett Stahl (120), Blake McBride (126) and Michael Lym (132) were third; and Zach Aketch (145) nabbed fifth.
Servatius registered four consecutive pins to take his title. Piper won two high-scoring matches (18-9 and 21-13) before winning the championship bout 9-1.
After two falls, Zook eked out a 5-3 win in the semifinals and a 3-1 overtime victory in the finals.
Oak Harbor will participate in the Battle for the AXE tournament in Port Angeles at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2.
