Coupeville High School senior Dominic Coffman fights off two Onalaska players on his way to the end zone for a touchdown. On Nov. 12 at Wildcat Memorial Stadium in Oak Harbor, the Wolves lost 30-14 to Onalaska High School in the first round of the 2B state playoffs, ending their season. The final score belies how close the game was; the teams were tied 14-14 with four minutes left in the third quarter when the Wolves lost their starting quarterback, Logan Downes, to a knee injury.
Saturday’s contest was Coupeville’s first football playoff game since 1990. Between that and the team’s 7-2 record, this year’s team gave the best performance of any Coupeville High School football team in 32 seasons. The Wolves were led by Bennett Richter in his first year as head coach.
