Adamson earns All-American honors / College football

Tyler Adamson, a 2015 graduate of Oak Harbor High School, was named honorable mention All-American by D3football.com last month.

The honor is the latest in a long list Adamson, starting offensive left tackle for the Whitworth University (Spokane) football team, has accumulated in his career with the Pirates.

Earlier this football season, Adamson was chosen for the All-Northwest Conference first team for the third consecutive year.

He was then tabbed for the All-West Region first team, the first Whitworth offensive player to receive the honor since 2008.

Adamson and his fellow linemen helped the Pirates lead the Northwest Conference in fewest sacks allowed per game (1.67), total offense (459.6) and rushing yards per game (181.6).

Adamson, who was a three-time, first-team all-conference player for Oak Harbor, also starred on special teams, setting a Whitworth record with six blocked kicks this past season.

Whitworth was conference champion and finished the season with a 10-1 record. The lone loss came in the second round of the national playoffs.

The 6-5, 292-pound lineman was also selected to play in the National Bowl, which features the best players from non-FBS schools. Adamson started at guard for the “National” team, which lost 16-13 to the “American” team in Daytona Beach.
