Emily Huffer of the North Whidbey Aquatic Club closed out the year with a stellar performance at the Pacific Northwest Swim Washington State Senior Short Course Championships Dec. 13 to 15.

Huffer, a sophomore at Oak Harbor High School, earned female high-point honors by placing in the top five of all her events, including a win in the 1,650 freestyle (16:58.75). Her time in the 1,650 was a new NWAC team record, as were her marks while placing fourth in the 200 backstroke (2:01.58) and 500 free (5:02.85). She also placed second in the 400 individual medley (4:27.73), fourth in the 200 butterfly (2:04.92) and fifth in the 100 backstroke (57.77).

Coupeville senior Cole Weinstein finished sixth in the 1,650 free (16:19.65), seventh in the 400 IM (4:09.32), 10th in the 200 fly (1:57.79), 12th in both the 200 breaststroke (2:11.67) and 200 IM (2:00.42) and 23rd in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.02).

Josh Jepsen, an OHHS senior, was 18th in 400 IM (4:27.73), 19th in both the 100 fly (53.97) and 200 breaststroke (2:14.93) and 20th in the 200 IM (2:01.68).

Jarik Bainco, Emily Schroeder, Hannah Schroeder, Brett Vagt and Lauren Vagt also competed for the Aquajets, who finished 15th in the team standings.
