The North Whidbey Aquatic Club started the short course season with a good performance at the Bellingham Bay Swim Team Challenge Series Oct. 10 and 11.
The Aquajets recorded 10 individual wins, about 75 percent posted lifetimes bests and several met Pacific Northwest Swimming qualifying times, according to coach Richard Taylor.
Jasmine Borja, 10, earned the NWAC Swimmer of the Meet honor with eight top-10 finishes, including finishing third in the 200-yard individual medley (2:58.45) and 100 freestyle (1:14.57).
Ashleigh Merrill, 12, led NWAC with four wins (200 IM, 2:30.55; 100 free, 1:00; 100 butterfly, 1:11.39; 400 IM, 5:17.21).
Haley Borja, 8 (100 IM, 1:32.01; 25 fly, 21.39); Alana Miller, 10 (100 backstroke, 1:18.25; 50 fly, 34.6); and Nicholas Shashaty, 7 (25 free, 17; 25 fly, 21.81) were double winners.
