Aquajets compete in summer championships

North Whidbey Aquatic Club athletes raced to personal bests at the North Cascade Summer Swim League Championships in Marysville. Those achieving 100 percent lifetime best swims included Justin Erickson, Jeron Kosbar, Tatyana Moore, Danae Nash and Ethan Tack.

Tack earned NWAC Swimmer of the Meet honors for racing to 100 percent lifetime bests, winning all three of his events, and achieving new Pacific Northwest Swimming standards with a Silver time in the boys 10-and-under 50 backstroke (45.72) and a Gold time in the 50 butterfly (41.07).

Aquajets Justin Erickson in the boys 8-and-under 25 backstroke had a time of 26.31, and Erica Sugatan in the girls 10-and-under 50 backstroke was clocked at 46.57 both recorded new PNS Silver standards.

Other Aquajet event winners were Justin Erickson and Olivia Tungate.

The North Whidbey Aquatic Club is a competitive swimming program of the North Whidbey Park and Recreation District. Tryouts occur Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at the city pool from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. New swimmers should be able to swim a length of the pool in freestyle and backstroke.
