Aquajets place in 12 events | NWAC

North Whidbey Aquatic Club swimmers nabbed 12 top-eight finishes at the Seattle Age Group Open at the Colman Pool Friday and Saturday, June 17 and 18.

North Whidbey Aquatic Club swimmers nabbed 12 top-eight finishes at the Seattle Age Group Open at the Colman Pool Friday and Saturday, June 17 and 18.

Haley Borja, 8, and Lindsay Brown, 9, topped the Aquajets by placing third in the 100-meter backstroke (1:48.19) and 50 back (43.11) respectively.

Borja was also sixth in the 100 freestyle, while Brown placed fourth in the 100 breaststroke, fifth in the 100 fly and eighth in the 100 back.

Alana Miller, 9, finished fourth in both the 50 butterfly and 100 back, seventh in the 100 fly and eight in the 200 individual medley and 50 back.

Patty Miessner, 13, was fifth in the 200 fly and was named  NWAC Swimmer of the Meet by coach Richard Taylor for her “consistent performance.”

Lea Opdyke, 9, swimming in her first long course meet, and Jasmine Borja, 10, also competed and combined to post nine personal bests.

In two weeks, Brown and Miller will participate in the Pacific Northwest Swimming Long Course Championships in Federal Way.
