The North Whidbey Aquatic Club rolled to a win in a three-team meet at Fidalgo Pool in Anacortes Dec. 31.

The Aquajets scored 943 points, finishing ahead of the host Thunderbird Aquatic Club (763) and the Jan Juan Island Orcas (80).

Bruce Vagt, swimming in the boys 9-10 division, won the NWAC Swimmer of the Meet award by dropping 48 seconds (an average of 16 seconds per 100 yards), scoring in every event, recording a gold time in the 50 freestyle (37.66) and earning multiple silver times.

Other silver times were met by Sophia Dickinson, Sydney Dickinson, Joe Gorman, Patricia Miessner, Autumn Robinson, Noah Schroeder, Shamus Warden and Lawrence Zapanta.

An additional gold time was set by Mollie Briddell.

Sophie Dickinson received the NWAC Relay Big Award for dropping her time in the 50 butterfly leg on the 200 medley relay from 49.08 to 36.17 and on the 50 free in the 200 free relay from 42.34 to 32.

Briddell, Trina Desquitado, Sydney Dickinson, Gorman, Schroeder, Vagt and Shamus Warden had 100 percent individual personal records.

Relay 100 percent PR efforts were clocked by Briddell, Desquitado, Sophia Dickinson, Sydney Dickinson, Gorman, Michael Johnson, Molly Vagt, Ashley Vogt, Kelsey Vogt and Zapanta.

NWAC next competes at the Anacortes January Challenge, Jan. 14 and 15, where it will field a team of 50 athletes.

The North Whidbey Aquatic Club is a competitive swimming program of the North Whidbey Park and Recreation District. It includes swimmers of all abilities and ages from 6 through college.

Tryouts occur Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at the city pool from 4:25 to 5:10 p.m. New swimmers should be able to swim a length of the pool in freestyle and backstroke.
