Arlington rolled in the decisive fifth game to edge the visiting Oak Harbor High School volleyball team 3-2 Monday, Sept. 22.
After the teams split the first four games, the Eagles sprinted to a 9-0 lead in the fifth set to claim the win.
Falling behind big in the last game “makes it difficult to come back,” said Oak Harbor coach Kerri Molitor.
The match started with two close games. Arlington won the first 26-24, then Oak Harbor took the second 27-25.
The Eagles (2-0, 3-1) breezed through the third set, winning 25-12, then Oak Harbor knotted the match with a 25-18 win.
The scores echoed Molitor’s comment about the overall performance of her team: “Very inconsistent play tonight.”
Claire Anderson registered 23 kills and 14 digs; Hailey Beecher had 15 assists and three aces; and Natalie McVey collected 11 assists and 13 digs.
Oak Harbor (1-1, 1-3) plays its next two matches at home at 7 p.m., starting with Shorecrest (1-1, 3-1) Wednesday, Sept. 24, and followed by Meadowdale (0-2, 0-4) Tuesday, Sept. 30.
