Arlington scored in every inning en route to a 12-1 win in five innings over the host Oak Harbor High School softball team Friday, May 8.
The win helped the Eagles (8-7, 9-9) jump into a three-way tie for second place in the Wesco 3A North behind leader Everett (15-0, 17-1).
Oak Harbor (1-14, 1-17) plays at one of the other second-place teams, Marysville-Pilchuck (8-7, 9-9), at 4 p.m. Monday, May 11.
The Wildcats then close out their season at home at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, with Marysville Getchell (2-13, 4-14). Oak Harbor defeated Getchell 10-4 April 7 for their only win this season.
Arlington combined 17 his with six Oak Harbor errors to pick up Friday’s win. The Eagles scored five runs in the first inning to pull away early.
Oak Harbor collected its run in the fourth inning. Liz Adams walked, stole second, moved to third on a fielder’s choice and scored on Alexa Findley’s single.
Laura Anderson had the only other Wildcat hit.
“We didn’t play very well,” coach Todd Showalter said. “We didn’t make some of the plays we have been making. If you don’t play well against a good team, they will make you pay the price.”
