Two Coupeville High School coaches have resigned their positions.
Football coach Ron Bagby is stepping down after 26 years as the varsity coach. He said there is no primary reason for his resignation other than “it was just the time.”
Blake Severns, who has served as the girls basketball coach for 11 years, also resigned. He said, “There was no pressure from parents or administration, nor were there any problems with the girls; it was just a tired coach who is learning there are more important things in life than coaching. Plus, after 11 years of high-school coaching, I think I just need a break.”
Coupeville principal and athletic director Sheldon Rosenkrance said, “Both Blake and Ron did a great job and we appreciate all they did for the programs and the students at Coupeville High School. They will be missed. We have opened both jobs and are working on filling the positions before school is out.”
A more detailed story Bagby’s and Severns’ coaching careers will published later this spring.
