Behind a 1-2 finish by Hailey Beecher and Resego Mooki, the Oak Harbor High School girls golf team won the Western Conference 3A North tournament Tuesday, May 12, at the Whidbey Golf Club.
The Wildcats finished the regular season undefeated in league action and then rolled in the tournament to cement the conference championship.
Oak Harbor finished with 530 strokes Tuesday, while Marysville Getchell edged Arlington and Stanwood 560-564-569 in the race for second. Marysville-Pilchuck shot 588 and Everett 601.
Oak Harbor and Getchell, by finishing first and second, qualified their entire teams for the district tournament.
District is noon Tuesday and Wednesday, May 19 and 20, at Stanwood’s Kayak Golf Course.
The top 19 players will qualify for the state tournament.
Beecher shot a 96 on the par-72 course to collect the Wesco North medalist honors. Mooki was two strokes back at 98.
Marisa Sligh was next with a 101, followed by Tarra Baird (117), Hannah Taylor (118) and Grace Korsmo (135).
Sligh (99 league points), Beecher (98) and Mooki (90) completed the season second through fourth in overall individual league points behind Arlington’s Emmi Modahl (102).
The medalist in each league match received 12 points, second place earned 11, etc.
Mooki finished fourth despite missing a league match while attending the national DECA tournament.
