After life in the fast lane, the Coupeville High School tennis team has hit a pot hole.

The Wolves, who easily won their first four matches, lost their second straight 5-0 contest, this time to visiting Blaine Thursday, March 28.

Coach Ken Stange said, “The girls were pretty down about yesterday. I think egos got inflated after going 4-0 against lesser competition. We have to regroup after break.”

Not all was negative. “Amanda (d’Almeida) and Allie (Hanigan) showed some spunk at singles. Allie even built a lead in the second set, but she couldn’t hold on,” Stange said.

Singles: 1, d’Almeida lost 6-4, 6-2; 2, Hanigan lost 6-2, 7-5.

Doubles: 1, Julia Myers/Iris Ryckaert lost 6-0, 6-0; 2, Micky LeVine/Jacki Ginnings lost 6-0, 6-1; 3, McKenzie Bailey/Maureen Rice lost 6-1, 6-2.

Coupeville (4-2) is off until 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, when it goes to Granite Falls (1-4).
