Four North Whidbey Aquatic Club swimmers wrapped up the short course season by competing in the Northwest Age Group Regional Championships March 23-26 in Federal Way.
The meet included swimmers from seven states and produced nationally ranked times.
Kiersten Tyson, 10 and competing in the girls 10-and-under division, led the Blue Heron by earning four top-eight finishes, all in personal best times: fifth, 200-yard freestyle, 2:19.92; sixth, 200 individual medley, 2:37.97; seventh, 100 free, 1:03.43; and seventh, 50 free, 29.08.
Ashleigh Merrill, 13, was ninth in the 50 free (25.52), 11th in the 100 free (55.23) and 18th in the 500 free (5:30.17).
Lindsay Brown, 11, took 14th in the 400 IM (5:09.58) and 16th in the 200 (2:27.79). She also clipped more than 10 seconds off her previous best mark to finish 19th in the 500 free (5:53.8).
Haley Borja, 9, competing against swimmers a year older and fighting a recent illness, was 10th in the 200 free (2:22.88), 11th in the 50 backstroke (33.97), 12th in the 50 free (30.03) and 13th in the 100 back (1:14.01).
