The North Whidbey Aquatic Club closed out the 2015-16 short course season by placing eighth in the team standings at the Pacific Northwest Swimming Divisional Championships March 25 and 26 in Federal Way.
The event included up to 344 individuals in some events, according to NWAC coach Richard Taylor.
The Blue Herons sent 20 competitors to the meet, and several finished among the leaders.
Jillian Pape, 16, won the 200-yard butterfly (2:13.17) and 100 freestyle (54.26) and placed second in the 200 individual medley (2:15.88) and 100 breaststroke (1:11.37).
A poor turn in the preliminaries of the 200 freestyle dropped Pape into the “B” final for the event. There she posted a 2:00.6, the day’s best time, including those in the “A” final.
Taylor named Paper NWAC Swimmer of the Meet.
