Haley Borja of the North Whidbey Aquatic Club owns the best Pacific Northwest Swimming times in six short course events, the organization announced this week.
Borja, coached by Dick Taylor, leads all nine-year-olds in the 50-yard freestyle (29.57), 100 free (1:04.22), 200 free (2:19.38), 500 free (6:26.08), 50 backstroke (34.38) and 200 individual medley (2:44.44).
Her times in the 200 and 500 freestyles are about 10 seconds faster than the next best marks.
She is also ranked in the top 11 in five other events: second, 100 back (1:15.49); third, 100 IM (1:17.28); sixth, 100 breaststroke (1:231.19); ninth, 100 butterfly (1:21.32) and 11th, 50 breast (42.13).
Pacific Northwest Swimming represents the top swimmers in the Puget Sound region, including over 350 in Borja’s division.
