Oak Harbor’s Judd Ford wrapped up two titles at the Wesco North tournament Wednesday, May 12, at Everett Legion Memorial Golf Course.

The Oak Harbor junior tied three others for medalist honors in the tournament by shooting a four-over-par 76. That effort also helped him finish in a first-place tie with Cascade’s Anthony Chiarelli in the final over all individual Wesco North standings with 154.5 points.

At the Wesco North tournament, the Wildcats finished fourth with a stroke total of 413. Arlington won the meet with 391.

Austin Fields had Oak Harbor’s next best score with an 83, good for 22nd. Jim Nguyen and Greg Martin shot 84, Matt Fikse 86 and Dan Klope 89.

Oak Harbor also finished fourth in the final league standings with 19 points. Arlington topped the league with 27. During the season, each team played five three-team matches; the winning team earned three points, second received two and third one. At the nine-team North tournament, the winner received nine points, second eight, etc.

In the overall individual standings, freshman Fields was the next best for Oak Harbor after Ford with 92.5 points and 22nd place. During the season, the medalist of each three-team match received 18 points, second received 17, etc. At the league tournament, the winner received 54 points, second 53, etc.

The Wildcats will now head to the district tournament next Monday and Tuesday, May 17 and 18, at the Everett Golf and Country Club.

In other golf action, Ford placed 17th with a two-round total of 153 at the prestigious Bill Egbars Memorial Tournament at the Skagit Golf and Country Club May 7. The meet attracts many of the state’s top high-school golfers.
