Mount Vernon spoiled the season opener for the Oak Harbor High School swimming team, beating the Wildcats 104-66 at John Vanderzicht Pool Monday, Dec. 7.
The Bulldogs won seven of the 11 events.
In the four Oak Harbor wins, Joe Gorman took part in three.
He won the 200 (2:17.44) and 500 (4:55.32) freestyles, and joined Eric Jensen, Cole McClasin and Logan Clark to take the 200 freestyle relay (1:57.36).
Clark collected the other Wildcat win in the 100 butterfly (1:09.72).
“For only being half their size in team numbers, I was pleased,” coach Erin Bull said. “Each team member had to compete in four events in order to fill up empty slots. They showed great endurance while dropping time from our time trials early in the season.”
Oak Harbor travels to the Snohomish Aquatic Center at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, to take on Glacier Peak and Snohomish.
