Shannon Buys in Vertigo won one race and displayed an act of sportsmanship in another as the Oak Harbor Yacht Club continued its Thursday evening races May 25.

Vertigo, skippered by Buys, won the day’s first race and appeared to have easily won the second; however, Buys disqualified himself for sailing the course improperly.

Jim McAlpine in Lucky Jim finished second in the first race and was awarded first in the second after Vertigo’s disqualification.

Dave Steckman in Renaissance was third in the first race, and Chad Holcomb on Yeah Dogg was third in the second.

The boats raced on Penn Cove for the first time this season to take advantage of steady 6-10 knot breezes.
