Charles Wright Academy squeaked by Coupeville 23-20 in the opening game of the newly combined Olympic/Nisqually League football conference Friday, Sept. 23, in Tacoma.
The four football-playing schools in each of the Olympic and Nisqually leagues joined to form an eight-team conference for the first time this fall. The leagues are combining for only football this school year.

Both scores were touchdown throws from Hunter Downes to Hunter Smith, the first covered 34 yards.
Downes added a third TD toss to Jacob Martin in the second half, but the Tarriers countered with two scores of their own to help CWA even its season record to 2-2.
The Wolves (0-1, 1-3) play Vashon Island (0-1, 0-4) at home at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30.
